Siúil bilingual walking group heading to Darkley

Armagh’s bilingual walking group Siúil is ready to put the hiking boots back on as they commence their 2020 programme of monthly walks in Darkley on Sunday 19 January.

Sunday’s walk will commence in Darkley village at 11am beside the old mill, before making it’s way to the fantastic new trails in Darkley forest. Those who would prefer a shorter walk are encouraged to meet the group at the entrance to the forest on Mountain Lodge Road.

The trails have proven extremely popular since their opening last year, due to some of the scenic paths alongside the Callan River, whose source is in nearby Tullynawood lake. The local Darkley Rural Community Group have worked very hard to make the forest trails a success and have recently opened their own Fairy Glen. The programme for the year is still to be confirmed, with the next walk scheduled for Saturday 8 February, and will include walks throughout Ulster and Louth, as well as a visit to the Wicklow mountains.
